A new journey begins

Posted by Karen George on January 31, 2012 at 9:26am 0 Comments

I attended my first online meeting for the 2011 e-mentor project.

What an amazing array of skills we have. I'll have to admit I didn't understand all the technologies mentioned but as this is a learning experience I know I'll get to know more.

For those who missed the meeting. A little about me. I work for Coonara Community House with Lynne Gibb & Liz Grigg and was a student at the time wikis were introduced as part of our learning in Cert III Community Services…

iPads and the 3G Network

Posted by Penny Bentley on January 27, 2012 at 1:28pm 0 Comments

I've been trialing my iPad with the 3G network while on holidays..just to check out how it all works and what one can do with $30 worth of data. Anyone else use 3G and can you recommend the most economical package to buy? Here's a blog post about my first attempt at using an iPad for more than just consuming information.

I felt it might be nice for us to share something techy we discovered or a favorite website we found during the Holidays'

Mine is I fell in love with an IPad over the holidays and have been totally absorbed in the little wonder.

It has lessened the hours I spend behind a computer, which has been healthy for body and mind.

Totally transforming the way I live , I sat…

The adventures of an e-learning amateur Part II

Posted by Alex Jedlicko on December 15, 2011 at 2:35pm 0 Comments

It's been a little while since I last posted and to be honest - I haven't done much. Time, it seems, eludes me.

With that said, I have been able to create a wikispace for the Centre, add headings, pictures (which I credit to the owner..how clever am I!) and I am now moving to adding more to entice the teachers to joining in on the act.

Moodle Anyone?

Posted by Coach Carole on December 14, 2011 at 8:59am 0 Comments

I have been preparing an introductory Moodle course for teachers in the Hume region and at the same time doing an advanced Moodle course for myself at http://www.integrating-technology.org/

The reason for this blog post is to share with you some of the learning that I'm taking and implementing immediately:

1. the need to start with a 'slow learning' approach - e.g. provide plenty of leadup information in the weeks preceding;… Continue
